BOEM approves Revolution Wind’s “Departure Request”
Few people realize that BOEM has released Ørsted, a multi-billion dollar foreign company, from any financial obligation to put aside funds for decommissioning within the first fifteen years of operation. What happens if they fail, become obsolete, or are determined to be harmful before that? Who will pay?
Big Oil wants to be Big Wind
Can we trust the big oil companies just because they now want to build offshore wind?
Coal gives Ørsted profit boost
Despite trying to “green-wash” their reputation, the multi-billion dollar danish energy giant, Ørsted, significantly profits from burning coal in 2022.
Ørsted’s fact sheet on Revolution Wind never claims to help combat climate change.
Ørsted makes claims about providing for our energy needs, but never states the offshore wind project will help climate change. Ørsted boasts that the wind energy will offset future emissions, but empirical evidence does not support this claim.
Commentary: A portrait of offshore wind companies
“The fossil-fuel companies have made billions of dollars constructing offshore wind projects in Europe. Their past oil and gas exploration provides the requisite expertise for this development. Because their business plan relies on constructing new projects, not electricity generation per se, they perpetually seek new markets. Our eastern seaboard constitutes an untapped frontier, open for business and ready for exploitation.”
